The western most of the three continents. It runs north to south from pole to pole and is roughly bisected by the Equator. As a result Lavalla has the largest area of tropical, temperate and arable lands known. It is, to Solistans, largely unexplored though by no means uninhabited. The average Solistan knows very little about Lavalla. One commonly ascribed fact is that Lavalla is dotted with scores of ‘City States’ rather then ‘Kingdoms’ in the Solistan sense.
The western coast of Lavalla (no one has ever seen the eastern coast!) stretches north to south from pole to pole. The land mass at the extreme ends disappears into mile high glaciers and hundreds of miles of permanent pack ice that is utterly impassible to ships.
The coast between these points is little better. It is a range of massive, sheer cliffs that tower hundreds of feet in height. The sea at the base is thickly littered with shards of rock that makes an approach within a mile or two extremely hazardous. This coast is home, and nursery, to several varieties of giant, long necked, marine reptiles that swim and dive for fish in the rocky waters and are known to pluck unwary sailors from the decks of ships and even capsize smaller vessels.
It is rumored that some Sea Lord Chieftains and ‘Captains’ know of hidden inlets and tunnels that allow passage into the interior. If true they guard the secrets carefully.
