{"id":1249,"date":"2022-02-03T05:15:24","date_gmt":"2022-02-03T05:15:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/solista.missiledine.com\/?page_id=1249"},"modified":"2022-02-03T05:49:53","modified_gmt":"2022-02-03T05:49:53","slug":"druids-and-equipment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/solista.missiledine.com\/index.php\/druids-and-equipment\/","title":{"rendered":"Druids and Equipment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Druidism<\/p>\n<p>The faith as practiced bu Humans and Halflings, is derived from Elvish beliefs.<\/p>\n<p>The key elements of the faith are:<\/p>\n<p>The Sun or \u2018Solsa\u2019<br \/>The Earth or \u2018Distra\u2019<br \/>The Waters or \u2018Ullia\u2019<br \/>The Plant Life or \u2018Thera\u2019 sometimes called \u2018The Green\u2019<br \/>The Animal Life or \u2018Cennos\u2019 sometimes called \u2018The Beast\u2019<\/p>\n<p>To simplify a complex philosophy, balance and harmony of ALL the elements must be preserved for the world, collectively known as \u2018Tiastron\u2019 to live.<\/p>\n<p><br \/><strong>Language<\/strong><br \/>All Druids, regardless of race, speak and read\/write Elvish.\u00a0 (This does count against languages known.)\u00a0 However Druids have their own written language and script that is used to record the Secrets.\u00a0 This is the same script used to write Druid scrolls.\u00a0 Learning this script and related language is part of the training to be a Druid.\u00a0 (This does NOT count against languages known.)\u00a0 No non Druid is able to read or comprehend it.\u00a0 Most Elves cannot read it!<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Scrolls of Tiastron<\/strong><br \/>These documents are the collected wisdom of thousands of years of Druidism.\u00a0 There are thousands of scrolls, and many are copies and partial copies of other scrolls and commentaries and reflections on yet other scrolls&#8230;\u00a0 Every Druid Grove has a collection of the scrolls.\u00a0 None are complete.\u00a0 A small grove may have a dozen or so, a large grove, hundreds.\u00a0 Sometimes they are found in places other then groves.\u00a0 Having been stolen, looted or otherwise lost.\u00a0 All the scrolls are incomprehensible to a non Druid (Even if a Comprehend Language spell is used the caster will be able to read the text but is unlikely to grasp the philosophy and symbolism inherent in it.) Every Druid reads and studies the scrolls.\u00a0 Every Druid has one or two in his or her belongings for contemplation and study when opportunity permits.\u00a0 (It is from these scrolls that Druids gain the knowledge and wisdom to cast their spells.) Every two levels of advancement a Druid must seek out fresh scrolls to study, exchanging the finished ones for new.\u00a0 It is an obligation on all Druids to recover any found\u00a0 Scrolls of Tiastron and deposit them safely in a Grove.\u00a0 Carrying more then needed for current studies, any longer then needed, is considered an unnecessary risk to the scrolls and the knowledge therein.<br \/>A 1st level Druid has enough scrolls to get him or her to 3rd level, at which point the Druid will need to find suitable scrolls to study till reaching 5th and so on.\u00a0 Note: Not every Grove will have every scroll!<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sacred Things<\/strong><br \/>Mistletoe, Holly, Oak, Oak leaves and acorns, Ash, Willow and Ivy are all considered Sacred plants and are key components to many spells.\u00a0 <br \/>Springs are also considered sacred, as founts of Ullia, and should always be clear to flow freely.\u00a0 Spring Water is an important material component.<br \/>Quartz crystals and all natural crystals are expressions Distra and and are treasured.\u00a0 (Many Groves have displays of crystals brought there by wandering Druids and worshipers.)<br \/>Sacred animals include Rabbits, Fox, Hawks, Serpents, Deer, Bear, Wolf and Mastadon\/Mammoth. Also Salmon, Whales, Dolphin, Seals and Sea Lions.<br \/>Sacred Days: The Solstices.\u00a0 The Equinoxes.\u00a0 Moon phases.\u00a0 Eclipses. Samhain, Imbolc, Lughnasadh, Beltane.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Druidic Holy Symbols<br \/><\/strong><br \/><strong>Wand<\/strong><br \/>Druids will have on them a &#8216;wand&#8217; made from (Druid&#8217;s choice based on availability) Oak, Holly, Ash or Willow.\u00a0 It will usually be entwined with mistletoe or ivy (if available.) This wand is NOT magical, it is a symbol and casting aid.\u00a0 If materials are available a Druid will craft a new wand every week or so.\u00a0 There is a ritual involved in harvesting the materials needed and it is permissible to harvest extra (a bit) against a future need if entering an area where materials will be hard to find.<br \/><br \/><strong>Sickle and Cloth<\/strong><br \/>A small silver sickle (size of a small folding knife) that is used EXCLUSIVELY to cut and harvest plant materials for wands and other components.\u00a0 The Cloth is a plain, white (clean) cotton cloth that is used to catch the cut materials so they do not touch the ground and transmit their energy to Distra.<br \/><br \/><strong>Cup<\/strong><br \/>Made of wood or earthenware (never metal) It is used ONLY for gathering water from springs.<br \/><br \/><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> Using the sickle as\u00a0 a weapon, or to do anything other then its purpose makes it unclean and it must be replaced!\u00a0 The same is true for the Cloth and the Cup!
